Chi Ho Lau is an experienced application manager with a demonstrated history of working in the building construction industry. Skilled in requirements analysis, Agile methodologies, software project management, technical leadership, and openBIM standards. Chi is an information technology professional with a Bachelor of Information Technology from Oslo and Akershus University College.

Since 2007, he has spent most of his career in software for construction industry, gaining experience in areas of UX, UI, software project management, and technical leadership in Building Information Modeling (BIM) at software company Jotne and public building owners, Statsbygg and the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority (Helse Sør-Øst RHF). Now, as Project Manager in buildingSMART Norway, his work contributes to digitalization by using open standards for smarter information sharing in the Norwegian construction industry. 

Chi’s passion for terminology and solutions development with open standards can be tracked back to his intensive contribution to the development and maintenance of the International Framework for Dictionaries (IFD) library, a predecessor of the buildingSMART Data Dictionary (bSDD). Since November 2018, he serves as the bSDD Operations Manager for buildingSMART International.

Chi is a Convenor in ISO for revision of ISO standard 12006-3 “Organization of information about construction works- Part 3: Framework for object-oriented information”. This language-independent information model can be used for the development of dictionaries, such as the buildingSMART Data Dictionary. He also participates as bSI Liaison in BIM standardization in CEN/TC 442: Working for BIM standardization in Europe, with terminology and Product Data Templates.

Chi is located in Oslo, Norway.
